River View Coal presents over 1.6 million dollar check to Union Co. Fiscal Court

Union County Fiscal Court was presented a check for property taxes for over 1.6 million dollars from a local coal company.

Fiscal Court Clerk Krystal Steward tells WMSK News River View Coal presented a property tax check of $1,696,591.08 to fiscal court during the regularly scheduled meeting held this morning the Union County Public Library in observance of Library Appreciation Day.

In other business, magistrates tabled a precinct worker raise proposed by Union County Clerk Trey Peak who is requesting precinct worker’s to be paid a total of $155. Of that, Steward says $30 would be used for school to undergo precinct worker training and $125 for working the election.

Magistrates also heard from members of the KY ASAP update regarding a $20,000 grant they received, a work ready update from Union County First Director of Community Development Garrick Thompson and a dog pound update from Union County Dog Pound Director Kathy Baird.

The next regularly scheduled fiscal court meeting will be held Tuesday morning, November 10, 2015 at 9:00 at the Union County Courthouse in the Fiscal Courtroom.
