Princeton, Ind. man charged for DUI and possessing fake government ID

GIBSON CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE:

On December 14, 2015, at 9:45 p.m. Deputy John Fischer conducted a traffic stop on a Black 2004 Kia Sedona on US 41 near County Road 350 South. Deputy Fischer stopped the Black Kia for making an unsafe lane movement.

Upon approaching the vehicle Deputy Fischer detected the odor of alcohol coming from the driver 29 year old Jairo Roman Santizo of Princeton, Indiana. Mr. Santizo provided Deputy Fischer with a Tennessee Driver’s License that appeared to be fake. Deputy Fischer attempted to run Mr. Santizo through the Tennessee Bureau of Motor Vehicles, but there was no record of Mr. Santizo in their system. Deputy Fischer then placed Mr. Santizo into custody and transported him to the Gibson County Jail.

At the Gibson County Jail Deputy Fischer administered Standard Field Sobriety Tests to gauge Mr. Santizo’s impairment. Once Deputy Fischer finished his investigation Mr. Santizo was charged with:

Possession of a False Government ID
Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated (DUI)
Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Endangerment (DUI)
Operating a Vehicle Without Ever Receiving a License.
Mr. Santizo remains in custody and is being held without bail.
Assisting Deputy Fischer was Indiana State Trooper Ross Rafferty.

All Criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond
a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
