PPD: 3 Providence residents facing drug-related charges, Morganfield man issued citation

A search warrant at a residence in Providence netted the arrests of several individuals for drug possession and other charges, while a Morganfield man was cited to court for drug possession.

Providence Police Department Chief Brent McDowell reports to WMSK News that his officers  and the chief of the Clay Police Department executed a search warrant at a residence at 313 Locust Street around midnight Sunday after they received numerous complaints about foot and vehicle traffic coming and going from the residence at all hours of the day and night. He says officers conducted surveillance on the residence and confirmed the activity. The search warrant was issued after a controlled buy was made from the residence.

During the search, police reportedly found about one gram of meth, three grams of marijuana, three sets of scales, 317-dollars in cash, numerous meth and marijuana pipes, five pill bottles containing schedule 4 pills, marijuana grinders, brass knuckles, cell phones and a Maverick 12 Guage shotgun.

According to Chief McDowell, the following individuals were arrested:

26 year old Dakota Gobin of Providence for first degree trafficking meth less than two grams, first degree possession of a controlled substance drug unspecified and possession of drug paraphernalia.

58 year old Floyd Evans of Providence for possession of meth, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

30 year old Kristy Gandy of Providence for possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.

And Chief McDowell reports 28 year old Martin Witten of Morganfield was cited to court for possession of marijuana and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.

In addition to the drug arrests last week, the Providence Police Department arrested 22 year old LaBryant Broady of Providence on Thursday for theft by unlawful taking or disposition-shoplifting; and served a criminal summons 46 year old Joseph Higdon of Providence on Thursday for third degree criminal mischief and third degree trespassing.
