NEWS RELEASE FROM POSEY CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE:
Chief Deputy Tom Latham stated on November 18, 2016, at approximately, 4:37AM Posey County deputies were notified of a burglary in progress in the town of New Harmony.
After arriving on scene deputies spoke to the complainant who stated he was awakened when someone was attempting to kick open the door of an unattached garage, which the victim was residing in while remodeling his home. The victim chased suspects with a baseball bat until he lost them. The victim provided the deputies with a description of the suspect vehicle.
While at the scene it was discovered the suspects had forced entry into the home of the victim, but at the time they were unable to determine if anything had been taken. The victim was able to provide deputies with surveillance footage which he obtained from his home security system. Deputies were able to gather evidence at the scene, but were unable to locate any suspects at that time.
At approximately 5:41AM deputies received a complaint of suspicious activity at a business in Wadesville. The description of a vehicle was given to the deputies along with information that people were walking around the vehicle with a flashlight.
After deputies arrived they discovered the vehicle had a flat tire and was similar to the description of the suspect vehicle that was provided to the deputies by the victim. While speaking to the three males deputies determined there were similarities of the burglar suspects in addition to the vehicle. Deputies questioned the males and identified them as 24 year-old Justin Lawon Black, 23 year-old Carlos Alberto Donahue, and 20 year-old Andrew David Lax all three of Evansville. Deputies discovered Black had felony warrants and Donahue had 2 misdemeanor warrants out of Vanderburgh County.
After speaking to the three men deputies were able to arrest them for Level 2 Burglary and Level 6 Residential Entry. The three men are currently being lodged in the Posey County Jail with no bond.
