Police: 2 charged after exiting moving car while baby inside

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Two people have been arrested after police say they got out of a moving vehicle, leaving a baby inside.

Local news outlets report that a Lexington police citation says 25-year-old Abigail Sargent and 27-year-old Joseph Levenson were driving Sunday afternoon when they got out and left their 7-month-old inside.

Police say the car was still running and in drive when Sargent and Levenson got out and the car was still rolling along the road. Investigators say the two had been fighting. Police say officers were responding to a call about the fight when they found Sargent, Levenson and the baby.

They were both charged with first-degree wanton endangerment and fourth-degree assault-domestic violence. It isn’t clear if they have attorneys.
