Hopkinsville, KY (Christian County) – A Paducah man was killed in a single-vehicle wreck on the Pennyrile Parkway in Christian County.

The Kentucky State Police is investigating a single-vehicle, fatality-collision that occurred on the Edward T. Breathitt Pennyrile Parkway, at approximately the 11 mile-marker, on Monday, October 12, at 6:05 a.m.

According to KSP, the preliminary investigation revealed that 40 year old Robert L. Mayhugh of Paducah was operating a 2013 Ford Edge southbound on the parkway around 6:05 Monday morning when near the 11 mile marker he lost control of the vehicle and it ran off the left shoulder, traveled into the grass median where it struck a guardrail, which caused it to become airborne and hit a concrete bridge pier. The vehicle came to rest on its top in the passing lane of the southbound lanes of the parkway.

State Police indicate Mayhugh was transported via ambulance to the Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment, and was in the process of being flown to Vanderbilt when he was diverted to the Gateway Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. KSP says he wearing a seatbelt.
