Old National Bank honored with ABA award for signature fundraising event

NEWS RELEASE

Owensboro, Ky. (Sept. 29, 2016) – Old National Bank has been nationally recognized by the American Bankers Association Foundation for its 100 Men Who Cook program with a 2016 Community Commitment Award. The award is for ONB’s efforts in the volunteerism category and will be presented during ABA’s Annual Convention in Nashville on Oct. 16.

Since 2009, 100 Men Who Cook has been Old National’s signature fundraising event, relying heavily on the volunteer efforts of ONB associates – and the collaborative spirit of local communities – for its great success. During the event, celebrity chefs from the area prepare their favorite recipes for guests to sample and enjoy. ONB has now hosted 44 of these events throughout our footprint, raising nearly $4 million for more than 30 charities.

In Owensboro, Old National has hosted two 100 Men Who Cook events since 2015 raising more than $163,000 for the Cliff Hagan Boys and Girls Club.

“This award is a true reflection of the commitment of our associates to their communities,” said Bob Jones, Chairman and CEO. “Their ability to work together to collectively raise $4 million is a huge accomplishment, and we are so very proud of their resolve and generosity.”

The selection committee chose six banks based on the creativity and thoughtfulness of programs — traditional or innovative in nature and structure — that embody the ideals of corporate social responsibility and demonstrate success in measurable terms.

“100 Men Who Cook demonstrates Old National Bank’s strong and passionate commitment to bettering the lives of its customers and local community,” said Rob Nichols, ABA president and CEO. “Their work embodies the mission of the Community Commitment Awards and they are a truly well-deserved recipient.”

Entries were divided into six categories including affordable housing, community and economic development, financial education, nontraditional borrower and underbanked, protecting older Americans and volunteerism. Award winners were chosen by a field of nationally-recognized experts.
