SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT

…ACCUMULATING SNOW AND ICE POSSIBLE SUNDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHT…

A STORM SYSTEM WILL MOVE EASTWARD ACROSS THE UPPER MIDWEST
SUNDAY…AND INTO THE GREAT LAKES REGION SUNDAY NIGHT. THIS WILL
DRAW PLENTY OF LOW-LEVEL MOISTURE AND WARMER AIR OVER OUR REGION.
WITH ARCTIC AIR INITIALLY IN PLACE AT THE SURFACE…THE RESULT
WILL BE SOME COMBINATION OF SNOW…FREEZING RAIN…AND RAIN
BEGINNING EARLY SUNDAY. THE ENTIRE AREA WILL EVENTUALLY TRANSITION TO ALL RAIN BY MONDAY MORNING AT THE LATEST.

WEST KENTUCKY WILL SEE THE MOST PRECIPITATION…WHILE SOUTHWEST
ILLINOIS MAY NOT SEE MUCH PRECIPITATION AT ALL. TEMPERATURES WILL CLIMB ABOVE FREEZING FROM SOUTHEAST TO NORTHWEST SUNDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY MORNING…SO MUCH OF THE PRECIPITATION OVER WEST KENTUCKY MAY FALL AS RAIN.

THE CURRENT FORECAST EMPHASIZES SNOWFALL FOR MUCH OF THE
EVENT…WITH A COUPLE OF INCHES POSSIBLE ACROSS THE REGION.
HOWEVER…THE POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR THE TRANSITION TO FREEZING RAIN
AND RAIN TO OCCUR MORE QUICKLY…WHICH WOULD LIMIT THE IMPACT OF THIS STORM SYSTEM. HOPEFULLY THE DETAILS OF THE FORECAST WILL COME INTO BETTER FOCUS THIS AFTERNOON.
