…FLASH FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING…

THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH IS NOW IN EFFECT FOR

* PORTIONS OF SOUTHERN ILLINOIS…AND ALL OF SOUTHWEST INDIANA AND WESTERN KENTUCKY.

* THROUGH THIS EVENING.

* WIDESPREAD SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE TO DEVELOP ACROSS THE WATCH AREA TODAY. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL WILL AVERAGE AROUND AN INCH…WITH ISOLATED AMOUNTS UP TO 2 INCHES.

* MOST OF THE WATCH AREA HAS ALREADY RECEIVED 1 TO 3 INCHES OF
RAIN…AND SOME ISOLATED AREAS HAVE RECEIVED UP TO 5 INCHES. ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAINS WILL LEAD TO RAPID RUN OFF, AND A SIGNIFICANT POTENTIAL FOR FLASH FLOODING ALONG SMALL STREAMS AND CREEKS…AND IN OTHER LOW LYING AREAS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD
TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION
SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.
