A Nortonville man was injured in a single-vehicle wreck Wednesday on the Pennyrile Parkway in Hopkins County.
According to the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, they responded to a single vehicle collision with injuries at the 33-mile marker on the Pennyrile Parkway southbound around 1:20 p.m. Wednesday where an investigation found that 37 year old Joshua L Capps was operating a 2002 Honda Civic near the 33-mile marker in heavy rain. They say Capps was attempting to pass a vehicle when his vehicle hydroplaned and became sideways, exited the shoulder of the interstate and crashed into a ditch. Authorities say the car then overturned and Capps was ejected.
Capps was taken by ambulance to Baptist Health Madisonville for treatment of injuries.
The sheriff’s office indicates Capps was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
