Northbound Lane Restriction on US 41 Twin Bridges SATURDAY & SUNDAY, NOV 5 & 6

Motorists traveling the US 41 Twin Bridges at Henderson need to be aware a Kentucky Transportation Cabinet contractor plans to restrict northbound traffic to one lane over the weekend.

Spokesman Keith Todd says this work zone along US 41 northbound at the 19 mile marker is to allow high traction coating to be applied at the north end of the US 41 Twin Bridges. The work zone is expected to be in place Saturday and Sunday from about 7 a.m., to around 7 p.m., local time, each day.

According to Todd, the placement of the high traction coating is in response to an elevated wet-weather crash rate in the curve at the north end of the northbound bridge. He says a safety study of the area determined that pavement between the bridge and the main entrance to Ellis Park had worn and had reduced traction qualities. The study also determined excessive speed was a contributing factor to the elevated wet-weather crash rate and may have contributed to pavement wear at the curve.

Ram Construction Services is the prime contractor on this safety project with a price tag of over 93-thousand dollars.

Motorists need to use appropriate caution in the work zone.

Over 40-thousand vehicles cross the US 41 Twin Bridges at Henderson on an average day.
