Muhlenberg Co. man airlifted to hospital after single vehicle collision on KY 181

KSP NEWS RELEASE:

Bremen, KY (Muhlenberg County) – The Kentucky State Police is investigating a single-vehicle, injury-collision that occurred on KY 181, approximately two miles south of Bremen, on Saturday, December 12, at 9:00 a.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that William K. Smith, 26, Bremen, was operating a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck southbound on KY 181 when the passenger side tires dropped off the right shoulder of the roadway. Smith overcorrected, which caused the vehicle to cross both lanes of travel. The vehicle exited the left shoulder of the roadway and struck a ditch. It overturned and came to rest on the driver’s side.

Mr. Smith was flown by PHI Air Medical to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN for treatment. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

Trooper First Class Jerry Knight is investigating the collision. The Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Department, the Bremen Volunteer Fire Department, Muhlenberg County EMS, and PHI Air Medical assisted at the scene.
