MPD: Reckless driver call led to arrest of Morganfield man on drug charges

A call regarding a reckless driver led to the arrest of a Morganfield man for drug charges.

Morganfield Police Officer Stefon Douglas tells WMSK News 36 year old Brad Gray was arrested Thursday night and charged for DUI, operating a motor vehicle on suspended or revoked operator’s license, three counts of possession of a controlled substance – over 20 dosage units drug unspecified, and prescription not in a proper container.

Gray was arrested after Officer Douglas says Union County Dispatch received a call regarding a reckless driver pulling into a liquor store. He says as he observed for the vehicle on US 60 he saw it coming into Morganfield and then observed Gray’s vehicle cross over into the westbound lane and nearly collide head-on into another vehicle, causing Gray to over-correct and almost run off into a ditch at Wal-Mart. Officer Douglas then initiated his blue lights, but states Gray continued driving for approximately a mile until he pulled over in front of Long John Silvers in Morganfield.

According to Officer Douglas, when he made contact with Gray he had glassy eyes, was stuttering and could hardly stand up when he exited the vehicle. After he failed field sobriety tests, a search was conducted on the vehicle where Officer Douglas says 22 Xanax were found in the center console, along with two other anti-depressant pills that were not prescribed to Gray.

Gray was then taken to Methodist Hospital Union County for blood tests and lodged in the Union County Detention Center.
