Morganfield Police investigation continues of armed robbery at 5th Third Bank, subject still at large

Morganfield Police have released the details of the armed bank robbery that occurred Wednesday at Fifth Third Bank, a story you heard first reported by WMSK News.

Sergeant Geoffrey Deibler says Union County Dispatch received a call from the bank around Noon Wednesday of an active armed robbery at the local bank. Sgt. Deibler and Union County Sheriff’s Deputies Kyle Dame and Jason Thomas also responded to the scene. When Sgt. Deibler arrived on the scene he was told by bank employees that the subject had fled on foot.

At this time, police are continuing to investigate and search for the suspect.

Sgt. Deibler says witnesses reported they saw the subject walking up Court Street from the area of B & H towards the bank shortly before the robbery. He says there are several businesses in that area that have surveillance cameras and authorities are checking the video as well as the surveillance video from inside the bank.

According to Sgt. Deibler, the bank robber stole thousands of dollars.
