Two chambers merge to form Union County Chamber of Commerce

MORGANFIELD, Ky. — After years of consideration and months of meetings, the Morganfield and Sturgis chambers of commerce have merged to create the new Union County Chamber of Commerce.

“We want to have a unified effort to bring prosperity to the entire business community of Union County,” Paul Monsour, the newly elected president of the Union County Chamber, said.

Other officers include Vice President Nyra Syers and Treasurer LaDonna Tapp.

The new organization will represent not just businesses and organizations from Morganfield and Sturgis, but throughout the county, including from communities such as Waverly, Uniontown, Sullivan and others.

“We want everyone to benefit from it,” Monsour said. “It’s a countywide effort. We want the whole community to be involved.”

Among the Union County Chamber’s goals is to increase the size of the workforce and population of the county, among other issues. “We’re there to help,” he said.

A part-time secretary will be hired. The Union County Chamber will be housed in the offices of Union County First in the Union County Courthouse.

The Union County Chamber will conduct an annual meeting on Tuesday, June 6, in conjunction with Union County First at White Buck Winery. The event will begin with a social hour at 5:30 p.m. followed by the dinner and program at 6 p.m.
