Man charged with burglary and criminal mischief at Knottsville grocery store

A 22 year old man accused of breaking into and causing damage to a grocery store in Daviess County over the weekend has been arrested and charged with burglary and other offenses.

According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, when deputies responded to a burglary in progress at Doodlebugs Grocery located in the 95-hundred block of Highway 144 in Knottsville around 3:00 Saturday morning they observed a white male subject wearing all camouflage near the rear of the store. The man reportedly ran after he spotted deputies arriving on the scene. After a short foot pursuit, authorities say the suspect identified as 22 year old Cory Robertson was arrested and appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office estimated Robertson, who police say is homeless, caused over $1,000 in damages to the grocery store.

Robertson was lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center for Burglary 3rd Degree, two counts of Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, Fleeing and Evading Police 2nd Degree On Foot and Receiving Stolen Property Under $500.
