Madisonville Police looking for inmate escapee

Police are looking for a jail inmate who escaped custody from a Muhlenberg County Deputy Monday afternoon.

According to Madisonville Police, 53 year old Vickie L. Carter, of Madisonville, escaped from the deputy around 4:50 p.m. during transport back to the Hopkins County Detention Center after a court appearance in Muhlenberg County Monday morning. During the transport, police say Carter was somehow able to remove the handcuffs from her wrist and opened the door of the van to create a reason for the deputy to stop. As the van stopped in the 900 block of West Center Street, Carter reportedly removed her jail issued suit and fled the van wearing a white t-shirt, white shorts and white socks. Police say the deputy tried to apprehend Carter but was unsuccessful.

Carter is wanted for second degree escape. Madisonville Police are requesting any information regarding Carter’s whereabouts to be directed to Sgt. Russell Nichols at (270) 821-1720.

According to police, Hopkins County Crime Stoppers is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the capture of the 53 year old Madisonville woman who is described as 5’2” in height, weighs about 146 pounds, and has gray hair and brown eyes.
