Local authorities responded to a water rescue Wednesday in Union County.

Union County Emergency Management Director Vernon Martin tells WMSK News he, along with the Uniontown Water Rescue, Union County Sheriff’s Office, Sturgis Police Department, and Sturgis Fire & Rescue, received the call around 4:00 p.m. Wednesday of a water rescue and missing person on the Tradewaters near Caseyville.

According to Martin, a male subject and another individual went to retrieve the male’s boat that sunk on Tuesday, but they became separated.

Martin tells me the male subject was found safe around 5:30 p.m. after walking about 8 miles back to his home.
