Lincoln County Schools canceled following graffiti threat

STANFORD, Ky. (AP) — Lincoln County Schools have been canceled after a graffiti threat was found over the weekend.

Multiple news outlets report schools will be closed Monday.

Officials say the threat stating “You getting shot down Monday 10” along with a pair of scissors with the word “Die,” were discovered Sunday at Crab Orchard Elementary School. The message was written on the outside of the school.

A statement on the school district’s website says Superintendent Karen Hatter and law enforcement immediately responded and proceeded to investigate.

Hatter says the school district needed to err on the side of caution and cancel classes Monday while the Kentucky State Police investigate. School is out Tuesday for Election Day.

Anyone with any information that could help identify whoever wrote the threat is asked to contact police.
