KYTC: Work Zone Lane Restriction for Median Crossover Work Starting Monday, March 21

KYTC TRAFFIC ADVISORY

Work on upgrades to bring the Pennyrile Parkway up to standards for Interstate 69 through Hopkins, Webster, and Henderson County is continuing with the addition of lane restrictions for median work starting Monday, March 21, 2016.

A contractor will restrict traffic to one lane between Pennyrile Parkway mile marker 61 and 67 in Webster County and Henderson County to allow median crossovers to be dug out and replaced. Median crossover points along this section will be widened and in some cases moved over the next few weeks to allow them to meet current interstate standards.

Emergency agencies have been alerted that this will include removal and replacment of emergency crossover signage, as well as rough pavement in the crossovers and the intermittant closure of some emergency crossovers.

Motorists should be alert for one lane traffic with a 55 mile per hour work zone speed limit betewen the 61 and 67 mile marker during this phase of work. There will be a 55 mile per hour work zone speed limit with an enhanced enforcement presence and double fines for citations.

Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow. This phase of the work is expected to take about two to three weeks to complete.
