KYTC: Section of KY 283 in WEBSTER County to Close for 15 Days starting May 9th

Motorists traveling on KY 283 in Webster County need to be aware a section of the road will be closed beginning Monday.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd indicates the closure on KY 283 will be from Monday, May 9, until about Wednesday, May 25, in the Knoblick Creek area between Cottingham-Pratt Road South and Shady Grove-Knoblick Road in order to allow a bridge to be replaced.

Farmers and truckers who use this section of KY 283 will need to find an alternate route.

Following this 15-day closure, Todd says the contractor will be back in the area at a later date for milling and paving along KY 283 from Beckley Osborne Road extending northward to Smith West Road, a distance of nearly fourĀ  miles. During this phase of work, motorists should be alert for one lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers.

Charbon Contracting, LLC, of Madisonville is the prime contractor on this over 445-thousand dollar highway improvement project.
