KYEM Holds FEMA Eclipse Tabletop Exercise

FRANKFORT, KY: (July 14, 2017) – Kentucky Emergency Management (KYEM) hosted a FEMA Solar Eclipse tabletop exercise on Wednesday at Kentucky Dam Village Conference Center in preparation for the upcoming Solar Eclipse event on August 21, 2017.

Over 150 agencies, with 220 participants consisting of local, state, federal, and private sector partners attended the one of a kind event. The tabletop was produced and facilitated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) National Exercise Division (NED) and exercised potential scenarios which could impact local communities during the eclipse.

The 2017 Solar Eclipse is scheduled to cross 14 states in the US, and 21 counties in the Commonwealth, with ground zero at Hopkinsville, Ky. The greatest length of totality will take place in Hopkinsville at 1:24 pm CDT on August 21.
