KSP: Utica man charged for wanton endangerment of a police officer and other offenses

A Daviess County man is facing multiple charges, including endangering the life of a police officer, after authorities say he intentionally tried to hit an officer during a traffic stop.

Just before noon Saturday, Kentucky State Police Post 16 reports an Owensboro Police Officer tried to pull over a vehicle on Old Hartford Road they had received complaints on. Police say the officer recognized the driver, 24 year old Ryan Clark of Utica, who had multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest. Clark was ordered to get out of the vehicle; however, police indicate Clark revved the engine, put the vehicle in reverse and intentionally tried to hit the officer and then sped away. Police say the vehicle ran off the road, hit the porch of a residence, and then crashed into a utility pole. Clark reportedly jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot but was apprehended by officers without further incident.

Clark was lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center for first degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, first degree fleeing and evading police in a motor vehicle, and leaving the scene of an accident.
