KSP: Motorcyclist Killed in Wreck on I-24 in Lyon Co.

A Tennessee man was killed Wednesday night after his motorcycle was hit by a vehicle in Lyon County.

Kentucky State Police Post 1 Mayfield reports troopers responded to the two-vehicle collision involving the motorcycle at the 34 mile marker of Interstate 24 near Kuttawa around 11:55 p.m. Wednesday.

Authorities say a preliminary investigation revealed 30 year old Nikita D. Davis, of Paducah, was driving a car westbound on I-24 when she swerved left, overcorrected, and then traveled through the median and into the eastbound lanes where she crashed into a motorcycle being operated by 28 year old David A. Crabtree, of Old Hickory, Tennessee. Crabtree was ejected from the motorcycle and Davis’ vehicle overturned onto the eastbound shoulder of the interstate.

Police say Crabtree was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lyon County Coroner, Ronnie Patton. Davis and her two passengers, 21 year old Chantel L. Merriel, of Paducah, and a three (3) year old juvenile, were transported by ambulance to Lourdes Hospital in Paducah with non-life threatening injuries.

KSP is continuing to investigate the fatal wreck.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Kuttawa Fire Department, Lyon County Rescue and Lyon County EMS assisted KSP on the scene of the crash.
