KSP: Marion woman injured in two-vehicle wreck near Union Co. line

Kentucky State Police are continuing to investigate a two-vehicle injury wreck that occurred on KY 365 about two miles south of the Union County line.

According to a report released late Monday afternoon, the preliminary investigation revealed that Katelyn Newcom of Marion, KY was driving a passenger car northbound on KY 365 around 5:20 p.m. Thursday, September 22, 2016, when she lost control of her vehicle, went off the road, and then came back onto the road and collided with a car driven by Travis Neitz of Morganfield. KSP says Neitz’s vehicle came to rest off of the roadway, but Newcom’s car continued until it collided into an earth embankment. Police indicate the impact of the collision caused Newcom’s seatbelt to break, causing her to be ejected from the vehicle.

Newcom was transported to Union County Hospital for treatment of injuries.

The Webster County Sheriff’s Office, Mattoon Fire Department and Crittenden County EMS assisted KSP at the scene of the accident.
