UPDATE:
Kentucky State Police has released the name of the male subject killed in a shootout with a trooper. The subject has been identified as 23 year old Dylan R. Whitaker, White Plains. An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Madisonville, KY.

White Plains, KY. – (Hopkins County) The Kentucky State Police is currently investigating a Trooper involved shooting.
Around 2:50 Saturday Kentucky State Police Post 2 Madisonville reports a Trooper was involved in a vehicle pursuit with an ATV that ended on Dragline Road when the subject lost control of his ATV, causing it to overturn. Police say the subject pulled a handgun and fired shots at the Trooper, and the Trooper returned fire, striking the subject. The subject was pronounced dead at the scene by Dennis Mayfield, the Hopkins County Coroner.
Authorities indicate the Trooper was not injured during the altercation.
This is an on-going investigation and KSP says they will release additional information as it becomes available.
