A 49 year old Eddyville man was killed when police say his vehicle crashed into a tractor-trailer in Lyon County.
According to Kentucky State Police, a preliminary investigation revealed that Michael L. Lefan was driving a pickup truck eastbound on US62 around 2:10 Wednesday afternoon when for an unknown reason his vehicle crossed the centerline into the path of an oncoming semi driven by 61 year old Dennis Barlage of Effingham, Illinois.
Police say Lefan was transported by ambulance to Caldwell County Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The tractor-trailer driver was uninjured in the wreck.
Authorities indicate Lefan was not wearing his seatbelt, and alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident.
Kentucky State Police is continuing to investigate the crash.
