KSP Charges Daviess Co. Man with Child Sexual Exploitation Offenses

Owensboro, Ky. (February 28, 2019) — On February 28, 2019, at approximately 6:42 p.m., the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch arrested Joshua Simpson, 24, and Alan Simpson, 31, on charges related to promoting a minor under 16 in a sexual performance and distribution/possession of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor.
Joshua and Alan Simpson were arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. The KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after discovering Joshua Simpson sharing files of child sexual exploitation online.

The investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Owensboro on February 28, 2019. Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to KSP’s forensic laboratory for examination. The investigation is ongoing.

Joshua Simpson is currently charged with three counts of distribution of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor 1st offense, twenty counts of possession of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor 1st offense, and three counts of promoting a minor in under 16 in a sexual performance. Alan Simpson is currently charged with 20 counts of possession of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor 1st offense. Each possession/distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor 1st charge is a Class-D felony punishable by one to five years in prison. Each count of promoting a minor under 16 in a sexual performance is a Class-B felony punishable by 10-15 years in prison. Another resident, Christopher Sweeney, 32, was arrested on an unrelated arrest warrant. They were lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center.
