KSP Arrests Bowling Green Man on Marijuana Trafficking Charges

NEWS RELEASE

Murray, KY. (August 4, 2016) On August 2nd, 2016 the Kentucky State Police stopped a maroon 1993 Chevrolet Caprice at the intersection of 16th Street and Lowes Drive in Murray, KY at approximately 2:00 P.M. for a traffic violation.  During the traffic stop troopers observed several indicators of criminal activity including a strong odor of marijuana.  Trooper Donald Bowman was speaking with the driver, Andre Phillips, 21, of Bowling Green, KY when Trooper Jody Cash noticed marijuana sticking out of Phillips’ pocket.

Phillips was detained and a search of Phillips and his vehicle was conducted.  The search uncovered approximately 4oz of marijuana, a large amount of US currency and multiple items of drug paraphernalia.

Phillips was arrested and charged with obstructed vision and/or windshield (Violation), Trafficking in Marijuana – Less than 8oz (Class A Misdemeanor), Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Possess (Class A Misdemeanor), Tampering with Physical Evidence (Class D Felony).

Phillips was lodged in the Calloway County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing by Tpr. Donald Bowman.
