KSP: 4 people injured in two vehicle wreck in Muhlenberg County

KSP POST 2 NEWS RELEASE

Beech Creek, KY (Muhlenberg County) – The Kentucky State Police is investigating a two-vehicle, injury-collision that occurred at the intersection of KY 1163 and Beech Creek Road, in Beech Creek, on Friday, January 15, at 1:50 p.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Mikel J. Smith, 21, Beechmont, was operating a 1998 Ford Escort westbound on Beech Creek Road. Ashley L. Crowe, 31, Beech Creek, was operating a 2011 Chevrolet Aveo northbound on KY 1163. Mr. Smith did not notice the stop sign at the intersection of Beech Creek Road and KY 1163. Mr. Smith proceeded through the stop sign and into the path of Ms. Crowe’s vehicle. The two vehicles collided at the intersection. Mr. Smith’s vehicle came to rest in a ditch off the southbound lane of KY 1163. Ms. Crowe’s vehicle came to rest partially off the southbound lane of KY 1163.

Mr. Smith and his wife, Denver Smith, 20, were transported via ambulance to Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment. Ms. Crowe and her daughter, Kayla Crowe, 11, were transported via ambulance to Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment. Kayla was then flown to Vanderbilt for treatment. All occupants were wearing seatbelts.

Trooper First Class Jerrod Hearld is investigating the collision. The Beechmont Volunteer Fire Department and Muhlenberg County EMS assisted at the scene.
