Kentucky sets new daily high: 3,649 new coronavirus cases

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has reported 3,649 new confirmed coronavirus cases, a record daily high. The Bluegrass state’s highest daily totals since the start of the pandemic have all been in the past week. The Democratic governor also announced 30 new virus-related deaths Thursday. That made for Kentucky’s second-highest daily death toll since the start of the pandemic. Beshear brushed aside criticism of newly imposed restrictions, saying the situation for many of the state’s hospitals and healthcare centers could become far more deadly. He said more than 1,300 health care workers tested positive for the virus over the past two weeks.
