James G. Collins, age 82 of Sturgis, KY died Monday March 3, 2019 at Redbanks in Henderson, KY. He retired from Brushy Creek Coal Mines and was a member of UMWA. He was a member of Old Bethel Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge. James had a great love for gospel music and sang in several quartets.

He was preceded in death by his parents Carroll and Brilla Collins; wife Elaine “Mickey” Collins in 2010; 3 brothers Richard, Arnold, and Bro. Don Collins; 3 sisters Bessie Mills, Norma Jean Collins, and Joan Collins; grandson Dylan Willhite.

1 daughter Audrey (Tim) Ross of Travelers Rest, SC

2 sons Tim (Joni) Collins of Litchfield, KY

Doug (Heather) Collins of Hopkinsville, KY

8 grandchildren Andrew Ross & Benjamin Ross

Nieces and nephews

Funeral service will be 11 AM Thursday 3/7/19 at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis, KY.

Fred Collins, Rev. Mike Demoss will officiate. Burial will be in Old Bethel Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-8 PM Wednesday and 10 Am until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be made to Old Bethel Baptist Church.
