HPD: Traffic stop leads to arrest of Henderson man for possessing meth

A Henderson man was arrested during a traffic stop early Tuesday morning for allegedly possessing various drugs.

Henderson Police report 48 year old Rego Cruse was stopped after an officer witnessed him disregard a stop sign on Atkinson Street around 12:15 Tuesday morning. Cruse reportedly was unable to provide an insurance card for the truck he was driving and 911 dispatchers advised the officer that Cruse had a DUI suspended license.

According to police, when Cruse got out of the vehicle a baggie containing a white crystal substance was found laying on the floorboard of his seat. Authorities indicate additional drugs were located in the vehicle along with a mask and a loaded handgun.

Cruse was taken into custody and lodged in the Henderson County Detention Center for Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Methamphetamine), Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, Driving on a DUI Suspended License 2nd Offense and a couple of other offenses.
