A Henderson Police officer is facing domestic violence charges following her arrest earlier this week.

HPD officer, 33 year old Chasity Williams, was arrested at her Evansville home Wednesday evening, along with her wife, Amanda Williams, according to media reports. The couple was charged with domestic battery in front of a juvenile under the age of 16.

Henderson Police Chief Chip Stauffer released the following statement to WMSK News regarding the arrest of Williams:

The Henderson Police Department is aware of the arrest of Officer Chasity Williams on May 25, 2016, by the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Department. Officer Williams will be on administrative duty and her police powers will be suspended for duration of the criminal proceedings and a separate internal investigation has been initiated. Because of ongoing criminal and internal investigations, the Henderson Police Department will not comment any further at this time.

HPD spokeswoman Officer Jennifer Richmond tells us Officer Williams began her career with the police department in April 2014.
