HPD: Henderson woman charged for theft of jewelry

A Henderson woman was arrested this week for allegedly stealing jewelry from a family member.

The Henderson Police Department says 77 year old Corine Johnson of Henderson reported the theft of over $500 worth of jewelry and identified a family member, 19 year old Mackenzie Lawless, as a possible suspect. On Wednesday, a police detective went to the home of Lawless and asked her to go to the police department to talk about the theft, but police say while on the way to headquarters Lawless asked to go back to her residence because she wanted to cooperate and give the detective the stolen jewelry. Authorities say she handed over the jewelry and admitted to stealing it.

Lawless was booked into the Henderson County Detention Center for Theft By Unlawful Taking $500 or More But Under $10,000.
