HPD: Henderson man charged for auto theft and escape

A 20 year old Henderson man has been charged for allegedly stealing a vehicle and escaping from police officers.

According to Henderson Police, officers investigated an incident involving an auto theft in the 1-thousand block of South Elm Street in Henderson. Police indicate officers located the vehicle around 12:05 a.m. Tuesday and stopped it at the intersection of Clay and Atkinson Streets. During the course of the investigation, police say the driver of the stolen vehicle, Keiave Tapp, escaped custody but was arrested a short time later.

Tapp was lodged in the Henderson County Detention Center for Auto Theft and second degree Escape.
