Hopkins County woman killed in single-vehicle wreck on Christmas Day

A Hopkins County woman was killed in single-vehicle wreck on Christmas Day.

61 year old Karen Scott of Madisonville was killed in a single-vehicle wreck at the intersection of Highway 81 and Highway 1207 in Daviess County around Noon on Friday, Christmas Day, when authorities indicate her vehicle went off the roadway and struck a ten foot deep ditch wall causing her car to overturn in the ditch.

Authorities say two passengers in Scott’s vehicle, 47 year old Larry Truitt and 37 year old Dana Laroche, both of Madisonville, had to be extricated and were transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in serious condition. Scott was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.

According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, all three occupants were wearing seatbelts. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the wreck, but authorities report toxicology tests are pending which is standard procedure.
