Hopkins Co. man killed in head-on collision

A Hopkins County man was killed in a head on collision after authorities say he fell asleep behind the wheel.

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office reports deputies and emergency personnel responded to a two-vehicle wreck on Rose Creek Road around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.

According to a preliminary investigation, they say 22 year old Hunter A. Lamb of Nebo was driving a pickup truck west on Rose Creek Road when it appeared he fell asleep and crossed into the eastbound lane and crashed head-on into a van driven by 31 year old Christina A. Trautman of Providence.

Trautman and her two juvenile passengers were transported by ambulance to the emergency room at Baptist Health in Madisonville. Authorities say Lamb was transported by ambulance to Baptist Health in Madisonville where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Nebo and Manitou Fire Departments assisted the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
