Henderson woman charged with DUI, felony drug possession

A traffic stop on the KY 425 Bypass around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday netted the arrest of a Henderson woman on DUI and drug possession charges.

According to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies stopped the driver of the vehicle, 39 year old Christina M. Powell for driving in a careless manner. Authorities say Powell was determined to be driving under the influence.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies reportedly found a crystal like substance suspected to be methamphetamine, a glass pipe indicative to drug usage and 15 dosage units of a felony controlled substance that had the label ripped off of the pill bottle with the pills inside. In addition, authorities say Powell was wanted out of Indiana on a felony warrant for manufacturing meth.

Powell was taken into custody and lodged in the Henderson County Detention Center for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, possession of a controlled substance (meth), possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), possession of drug paraphernalia, careless driving and failure to produce insurance card.
