A traffic safety checkpoint in Henderson County landed a Henderson man behind bars for trafficking and possession of drugs.

According to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies along with state troopers conducted the traffic safety checkpoint at the intersection of US 41 South and Madison Street. The sheriff’s office says around 11:45 p.m. Thursday a vehicle pulled up to the checkpoint and authorities smelled burnt marijuana coming from the passenger car driven by 26 year old Justin Green of Henderson.

According to the report, Green did not have a driver’s license and after a search of his vehicle by authorities he was arrested for first degree possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, trafficking marijuana, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and no operator’s license. Green was booked into the Henderson County Detention Center on no bond.
