Henderson couple charged for being convicted felons in possession of guns

A Henderson couple was arrested Thursday after the sheriff’s office says they received information the husband and wife had purchased suspected stolen firearms.

During the investigation, the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office indicates Probation & Parole conducted a suspicious circumstance home visit at the residence of 52 year old Ronald Simmonds and 51 year old Carla Simmonds on Center Circle. During the visit, authorities indicate several long-guns and numerous rounds of ammunition were found throughout the residence. Detectives also reportedly found a small amount of marijuana, drug pipes with residue, a set of digital scales and packing material, which the husband admitted belonged to him.

The couple was previously convicted on felony charges and was taken into custody for being convicted felons in possession of firearms. Ronald Simmonds was also charged for possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and Carla Simmonds was additionally charged for Probation Violation for weapon possession charges.

The couple was lodged in the Henderson County Detention Center under no bond.

The sheriff’s office indicates this is an ongoing investigation.
