Henderson Community College Announces Health Science Technology Program

Henderson, KY – Henderson Community College is excited to announce its new program coming in Fall 2019, Health Science Technology. Henderson Community College’s Health Science Technology Program is designed to prepare students for entry-level career opportunities in the field of healthcare and health-related services. The program is structured for those students who seek jobs right after earning their degree, as well as for currently employed individuals wanting to gain more skills for greater career options. Those who complete this program will graduate with the skills for direct care services as well as health care delivery and an Associate in Applied Science degree. This program requires that students complete a minimum of three certificates within the health care field, which may be earned while completing the academic courses required. These certificates will allow the student an opportunity to seek employment within the health care field at workplaces such as hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, skilled nursing facilities, physicians’ offices, and pharmacies while completing the Health Science Technology degree. The certificates, which are chosen by the student from Henderson Community College’s allied health division programs, are based on the students’ interests and provide students with the flexibility of choice of the health care institutions in which they work.
Dr. Jason Warren, President & CEO of Henderson Community College, said “I am proud we can expand our educational offerings in this way and our offer students more options. In additional to giving students the opportunity to earn relevant, short-term certificates, the degree program serves a valuable role in preparing students for selective admissions programs in numerous healthcare fields.”
The Health Science Technology program is eligible for the Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship, a scholarship that helps students who have not yet earned an Associate’s Degree afford an industry-recognized certificate or diploma.
