Henderson Co. Sheriff’s Office: Scam Alert

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a phone scam.

According to a release, the sheriff’s office received several reports Thursday afternoon where an individual identifies himself as Deputy Mike Miller with the sheriff’s office. He then tells the victim they failed to show up for Jury Duty and advises that they will be arrested unless they pay court fees and fines. Authorities say the scammer then directs them to get prepaid money cards and has the victim give him the number of the card over the phone, which enables him to access the money. The telephone number he is currently using is 270-748-3660.

A Henderson County Sheriff’s Detective says their office does not accept money in fines or court cost by any means.

Anyone with information leading to the arrest of this individual can call the sheriff’s office at (270) 826-2713 or Henderson Crime Stoppers.
