Henderson Board of Commissioners Buys Dump Trucks, Handles Other Routine Business

NEWS RELEASE

HENDERSON, KY, October 11, 2016– A light agenda of the Henderson Board of Commissioners on Tuesday included the purchase of a new dump truck with snow plow for Public Works, second reading of an ordinance amending the budget and a resolution setting how city vehicles are marked.

The dump truck with snow plow bid went to low bidder Truck Centers Inc. of Evansville for $115,890. The budget had allowed $125,000 to be spent. The new truck replaces a 1989 model with 80,000 miles.

The budget ordinance was amended to include some equipment for the Henderson Fire Department, furnishings and other items for the new Municipal Services Center, replacement of signage and transfers for paving and sidewalks.

The city vehicles resolution allows units to be marked with either the City branding insignia or the City seal.
The commission conducted these other items of business:

 Awarded a bid for maintenance and upgrade of filter media at the Atkinson Park Pool. Last such upgrade was 22 years ago.
 Heard report from City Manager Russell Sights about a request from the property owner of EZ Shop No. 1 on South Green Street to be annexed into the City. The request will be sent to the Planning Commission for zoning assignment.
 Heard a report from Gary Colberg, chief operating officer of Methodist Hospital, with updates about the hospital and plans for the future.
 Heard a report from Ken Christopher updating the site plan for the bronze statue of Admiral Husband E. Kimmel at the riverfront. Christopher is vice president of the Henderson War Memorial Foundation and Kimmel Project Chairman.

The next meeting of the Board of Commissioners is 5:30 p.m., Oct. 25, in the Assembly Room.
