HCSO: Illinois man facing charges after single-vehicle wreck

An Illinois man is facing multiple charges in Henderson County after he was reportedly involved in a DUI accident with two children inside the vehicle.

According to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the accident around 11:05 p.m. Thursday in the 19-thousand block of Highway 416 East and located the driver, 44 year old Zohn McLaughlin of Mount Vernon, Illinois, whose vehicle had ran off into a ditch and then came back onto the road, causing a flat tire. Deputies indicate McLaughin’s two children, ages 9 and 10, were in the vehicle at the time of the wreck.

After an investigation, authorities arrested McLaughlin on charges of two counts of first degree wanton endangerment, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs under aggravating circumstances, and no operator’s license. He was lodged in the Henderson County Detention Center on no bond.
