HCC sets record for degrees and certificates in spring 2020

Henderson, KY – Despite the significant disruption to the spring semester, Henderson Community College (HCC) awarded a record number of 351 certificates in the 2019-2020 academic year, and 205 degrees were earned, the highest number since 2016-2017. In certificates earned, this about a 33% increase over the previous year.

HCC’s transfer-specific programs saw the most impressive increase in credentials earned in the 2019-2020 academic year. The Associate of Arts program awarded the highest number of credentials since 2015-2016, and the Associate of Science program the highest number since 2016-2017.

When asked about the spring 2020 semester, Dr. Warren, President/CEO of HCC, said, “The spring semester was challenging, but our student’s demonstrated grit, persevered, and adapted to new remote instruction. I’m so proud of our faculty, staff, and students!”

For the 2019-20 academic year, the 16 KCTCS colleges awarded 39,291 credentials, which included degrees, diplomas, and certificates. This is up nearly 6% over last year, which itself is a record year. The record number of credentials awarded pushes the total number of credentials awarded by the colleges of the KCTCS to half a million since KCTCS was created.

HCC is located at 2660 South Green Street in Henderson. For more information about HCC, visit www.henderson.kctcs.edu or call 270-827-1867.
