Free Kentucky Hunter Education Range Day Scheduled at Moffitt Lake Recreational Area

A free Kentucky Hunter Education Range Day course is scheduled this weekend at Moffitt Lake Recreational Area in Union County.

The course, sponsored by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife and Gods Outdoors Disciples Ministry, includes live fire and a “hands-on” field course. Students will be examined on how to properly carry and use a firearm while in the field and be required to successfully participate in a live-fire exercise.

Officials say the Hunter Education Range Day is for those students who have completed the classroom portion by internet or CD-Rom. Students who use the CD-Rom for completion are required to take the written exam at the range day.

According to officials, a course completion card will be issued to successful students, which is valid in North America. Pre-registration is required for all courses and is completed by visiting the Hunter Education page at fw.ky.gov.

The free Kentucky Hunter Education Range Day course at Moffitt Lake is scheduled from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 25, 2016.
