In July 2016 the Kentucky State Police, Drug Enforcement/Special Enforcement West Branch received a compliant of possible theft at Morganfield Police Department. At the time of the alleged theft Craig Bolds was Morganfield Chief of Police.

The letter stated that Craig Bolds was suspended without pay for two weeks starting July 7th, 2016 to July 21, 2016. Mayor Berry stated in his letter the reason for suspension, “This action is being taken due evidence provided the City Council and Mayor with evidence of your engagement in activities and conduct that adversely has effected your judgement in preforming your job duties.
