…FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH THIS EVENING… The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a * Flash Flood Watch for portions of southeast Illinois, southwest Indiana, and northwest Kentucky. * From 1 PM CDT this afternoon through this evening * A burst of heavy rain, averaging around an inch, but with locally higher totals possible in thunderstorms, will come quickly this afternoon. This may lead to flooding of roadways and create a driving hazard. * Locally heavy rainfall will be quick to collect in low lying areas and may expand from normal low water crossings and flood prone areas, to more widespread street flooding and become a problem for area travel. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
