The drug case against a local doctor has been returned to the Union County District Court after some felony offenses were dismissed.

According to Union County Circuit Court documents, the Union County Grand Jury met this morning and dismissed the felony firearm enhancement offenses tacked onto the drug charges of Dr. William Bebout of Morganfield. Now that there are no felony charges, his case was remanded back to District Court for the misdemeanor charges of Cultivation of Marijuana (< 5 Plants) 1st Offense, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Dr. Bebout was arrested on October 7th after a joint investigation by the Morganfield Police Department and Union County Sheriff’s Office led local authorities to his home where officers reportedly found equipment indicative of an indoor marijuana growing operation, along with marijuana, drug paraphernalia and dozens of firearms, all of which were seized by police.

Dr. Bebout’s next court appearance will be for a Pre-trial Conference in Union County District Court on December 10th.

Even though the Union County Grand Jury met today for the December session, there were no indictments.
